Max for Live Public Beta Now Available

Max integration into Ableton Live, developed by Ableton and Cycling ’74, is now available for download at cycling74. The product is scheduled for release November 23rd. You can get pricing and other details from Ableton‘s Max for Live product page.
Setting up Max for Live
- Download and install the latest beta version of Max 5.1
- Download and install the latest beta version of Live 8.1 — Max for Live will not work with earlier versions of Live.
- Start Live 8.1. (Don’t start Max. Live and Max communicate internally and you will never need to launch the Max application manually when using Max for Live.)
- Authorize Live 8.1. If you are not prompted to authorize Live 8.1 after launch, you’ll need to go to the User Account/Licenses tab in Live’s Preferences and select the link to manage your authorization. From here you can authorize online or offline. Once you’ve successfully authorized Live 8.1, you will see Max for Live in your Authorizations list in the User Account/Licenses tab.
- Follow the Live Lesson called “Getting Started with Max for Live.” This will introduce you to the basic idea of Max for Live and get you started with some of the factory content and tutorials. Live’s Lessons are available in the Help View, which can be opened from the Help Menu.
- For discussion about the Max for Live beta, please visit the discussion forum. To report bugs, please use the bugs forum. You can post to the Ableton forums by logging in with your Ableton username.
For more information on reporting bugs and crashes, please see the “How to Report a Bug” Lesson in Live’s Help View.
