Extracts from electronic sound experiments… Stelazine Zofrene + James Schidlowsky. Connecting there gizmo (now called “The Quadratic Cascading Intersidereal Noisificator” (QCIN) (or/ou) “Le Bruitificateur Intersidéral Quadratique en Cascade” with his dualOscillatorBox and WonkySequencer, and getting completely new and suprising sounds.

The dualOscillatorBox was gating the 3rd oscillator on the QCIN’s quad NAND gate chip, then the output of the QCIN was split, one branch going to the speaker, the other one going to the SequencerBox, whose output went to another speaker. Lovely dollarstore amplified speakers.

JASuto is probably my favorite Ipod apps.    AntiGoliath send me information about it couple weeks ago but it only this week I give a serious try and I’m stunted.   It is the best ever 5$ invesment I did in my life.   The JASuto pro offer lots of different modules and you connect those module to each other to make the magic happen.  It took couple hours to figure out all the little tricks, specially the link.   You double tap the link to change the assignement. You can also assign the accelerometer to anything as a module.   imagine! you can control cutoff and rez by the tilt of you ipod touch!!! X an Y (even Z) . OSC support and builtin ftp server to upload and download new sample. even patches are avaible for upload and downlod from the net community.
Jasuto 1.2.2 is now available for all mobile platforms and vst for pc and mac.( yep crispo)

Hey Chris? when are we expecting the Ipad version? I just cant wait.

James Schidlowsky send me information about the new QuadCade Jame’s prototype:
James: en gros c’est un oscillateur 555 qui gate une cascade de 4 oscillateurs formé par le quad NAND gate. de manière optionnelle, un switch qui active un deuxième LFO 555 qui contrôle le premier 555 via pin 5. et autres switches pour 1. changer le condensateur sur le premier 555, 2. fermer le premier 555, 3. couper le feedback du dernier oscillateur du quad du premier. en outre, un “power sag” pot qui peux réduire le jus pour le 4093.

j’avais l’intention d’ajouter d’autres switches lorsque je vais la construire dans une boite, par exemple, un switch par oscillateur sur le 4093 qui change le condensateur. peut-être également un input qui peux aussi faire le gate du premier oscillateur du 4093.

James : voilà le coeur de mon circuit, 4 oscillateurs en cascade sur un CMOS 4093 Quad NAND gate. tiré du livre “Handmade Electronic Music: The Art of Hardware Hacking” de Nicolas Collins. Mais moi j’utilise des pots plutôt que des photoresistors, et je gate le premier oscillateur avec un autre oscillateur basé sur le 555…

straytechnologies offfre un kit pour convertir  le BLIPTRONIC 5000, une matrix simple offert par thinkgeek, en monome.   Je m’attendais bien que quelqu’un allait bien interfacer ce beau joujou. Les matrix sont  très populaire pour les créateurs depuis quelques années.  Monome fut probablement le premier à metre an point une matrix 8×8 mais le prix la rendait difficile à atteindre.  Maintenant,  les grands constructeurs ont copiés monome  et ont intégré la matrix a ableton live.  Novation et Akai ont fait un beau travail d’intérgration mais on connait  qui a fait l’inovation.
Il ne faut pas oublier Toshio Iwai,et yamaha qui nous ont aussi offert le TENORI-ON ,une autre belle bête.

Musikmesse show in Germany nous apporte le MONOTRON de Korg.  A premiere vue,  j’ai tout de suite pensé au Stylophone.  Fianlement,  c’est un mini analog synth avec le filtre du Ms-10.   donc c’est un mini ms-10.

si le prix est bon, c’est un beau jouxjoux.   je cherche encore le prix officiel mais je m’attend a 150 can.  (50e)  Si le prix est bas, un tournevis ‘simpose. si c’Est plus que 400$,   ca ne vaut pas la peine.

L’avenir (et le son) nous le diront.

personnelement, la premiere chose que je ferais serait de l’ouvrir pour trouver le control CV et gate de chaque modules et les sortir sur des jack 1/8.  Si c’est a bas prix, c’est possible que le board n’est qu’un chip donc controle plus difficile.

1 – Tighter operation

Through internal software refinements the Yamaha engineers have successfully improved the overall processing performance, giving the Tenori-On player the experience of a ‘tighter’ and more instantaneous real-time performance instrument.

2 – Improved MIDI sync

A high percentage of Tenori-On owners use their instrument in conjunction with a computer-based DAW. This combination gives maximum sonic versatility. The new Version 2.0 firmware now responds to the F2 MIDI Song Position Pointer message allowing it to be seamlessly integrated into all popular DAW systems.

3 – Global Mute

Its now simple to Globally Mute the Tenori-On audio output for all tracks by using R4 and L1 top panel buttons. This allows performers, especially when using the Tenori-On with a DAW, to create dramatic mutes (and unmutes) via shortcut keys, without having to enter the deeper menu architecture of the Tenori-On.

4 – Reset Loop Timing

When changing loop speeds and accessing the unique Tenori-On layer loop points, its possible to have different tracks running out of sync with each other. This can create a unique musical feel however, at some musical moment, its good to be able to reset all loop points. In the original Tenori-On firmware this feature was buried deep within the menu structures however, with Version 2.0, this is now available from the top panel buttons. Simply by hitting the combination of L4 and R1 all tracks will reset to their original loop timing points.

5 – User Scale

A feature that has been highly requested by the Tenori-On enthusiasts is the ability to expand and edit the instruments global note scaling. Rather than being confined to a range of 16 consecutive notes per layer, its now possible to create a global ‘User Scale’ allowing different notes from different octaves to be accessed and sequenced within one single layer. This new function will open up many new musical dimensions for the Tenori-On player as any note can now be assigned to a layer.

6 – Swing

With a new ‘Swing’ function implemented in Version 2.0 its now possible to give the entire instrument a new level of musical ‘feel’. With a -23/+23 swing parameter its also possible to fine tune this ‘feel’ using the jog wheel in real-time. The new Swing feature is especially creative when Slaved to an external DAW as it allows the Tenori-On to swing while the DAW remains rigid.

voici le sampler de korg.  j’en au un comme ca et je l’aime bien.   tu t’amuserais bien avec ca.Sequenceur + sampler   bon pour drum mais aussi synth(sampling) et loop il y a un autre mdel en bleu que c’est le meme sequenceur mais avec des synth a la place du sampler et des drum samplés pas mal interressant.  kijiji  me voici!
